today i received notice that i went over in my checking account. they charged me for it. i thought i had overdraft protection.
i didn't.
i called customer service. i was stern, but not angry. i talked and talked. no help. i threatened to close my account (i didn't want too as i'm leaving for 5 weeks and it would be a MAJOR inconvenience). no avail. the customer service woman said she couldn't help with the charges, no matter what.
then i said to her that i knew there was someone there who could help me. could fix this oversight and misinformation by her company.
there was.
i got transferred to her supervisor. after a cursory conversation with her supervisor i got my charge back, minus a ridiculous, MUCH smaller charge for what they would have if my account actually had overdraft protection.
moral of the story..
make a stink, don't be mean about it. the customer is always right. esp. with a big company. and always ask to talk to a supervisor, because there is ALWAYS someone who can fix the error by the company.
