so, i think the conundrum i looked at this morning is a unique one.
i'm thinking lawn signs these days. you know.. stumping for one candidate or another, one issue or another and showing what side of the fence you are on by proudly displaying your view with a sign you put on your lawn.
i don't have a lawn, but that doesn't stop me from putting signs in windows.
this morning i thought 'a kerry sign.. i should get one.' and the very next thought was 'oh fuck! i can't get one of those.. how will it look?'
no. can't put a kerry sign up. he's too mainstream. kucinich, yes.. but kerry?
but the reason i considered it is because he is going to be the democratic presidential candidate and i want it to be known that THIS is not a republican apartment. that yes, i'm going to support kerry. even though i'm voting sharpton in the primary. i have to. because, as you know, bush is a butthead.
but still. i can't put THAT much support behind kerry. no no no.. not a lawn sign!
i think i've solved the problem.
other than having an andrea ortiz sign tacked to my door, i'm going to ask kitty piercy's campaign if they have a sloppy second that i can put in a window only visible to the 14 or so neighbors that might happen to see it. that way the good folks who happen to follow local politics are sure to know that this is NOT an apartment that could possibly be interested in supporting bush.
*ugh* i'm tired.. and this did not come off nearly as interesting as i'd hoped it would.
it was ment to be a statement of living in a city like eugene and moving about n a community where the nader thing is a BIG deal and how voting for gore was considered selling out and and and.. well.. a commentary on living in an ultra liberal community carries interesting politics.. stuff that the rest of the country obviously isn't focused on.. considering how much press sharpton is getting, and kucinich--- who is getting more than sharpton.
i'll shut up while i'm ahead and go get lawn signs for the trainsong neighbors and drop off walking lists.
