this is the picture that cnn has right now on their front page with headlines about the rallies today:

no, it isn't a pleasant image. the visitors to cnn get to see that and be lead to think that we were unpatriotic and violent.

So what was the deal with that top photo?
Glad the rally went well. Very, very strong message being sent. It will be interesting to see if it's received and if George W. acknowledges it.

Thank you for showing us what the local media has not ... particularly for those of us who were unable to be there, it helps to bring home what happened and what was felt.

The people are awakening to the fact that our country seems no longer to be a democracy. It's not the "radicals" out there on the streets protesting the war and the idiocy of the Bush regime. It's your neighbor and your best friend and their kids. Power to the people.

regarding the "peaceful couple" asking who owns the medial - what precisely IS the implication of that sign, do you think? In my experience, and more during recent months than ever before, "The Jews" is the answer that'll get you full marks for the fill-in-the-blank question "______ own the media."

I'm not sure what Adelaide's point is with regards to the "Who owns the media" sign, but how anyone could see an implication of Jewish media ownership in a two sentence sign is beyond my understanding.
Of course, the answer is a play on the "liberal media" statement at the top of the sign. If you answer "conservative corporations like Disney and Time/Warner", or if you answer "conservative individuals like Ruppert Murdoch", then not only are you factually correct, but your very answer gives lie to the entire "liberal media" concept.

1)If you remember from 'US Government 101' the US is not a true democracy. I could list all the reasons why, but I'm sure you simply forgot.
2)Power to the people? No matter who's stats you believe, the amount of people marching are a minority to those tho believe that we should use force.
So, even if you use democracy in its truest form, we would go to war, because that is what the majority want.
