meow lily bear

aka liliphant, little bear, bear, b, sweet b, mama bear, fat girl

born november of 1997

lily was adopted from the montgomery county, va humane society in april of 1998. she was the first non-family cat to join my family of me. she is extremely friendly, and terribly playful. she has not a shy bone in her body. her favorite toys are balls with bells in them and anything with a feather. she is the mama cat of the herd, she can often be found curled up with one of the other 3 bathing them. at some point i'm hoping to train her to be a therapy cat, because she would be simply perfect at it, she has so much love to give.

lily, along with max, rode in my truck for 5 days, with no complaints, moving with me from virginia to oregon. she and max then moved 3 more times between august of 1998 and april of 1999 as i was starting my life out here. they were great.

maxthenew river

aka max, maxie, new, monster, maxthewnew, alpha boy, new boy

born may of 1998

max was named after the new river, which flows north from western north carolina through southwestern virginia and merges with the gauley river in west virginia. it is very important to me.

he is the alpha cat of my herd, something i work to maintain (my youngest, smudge, would like this spot).

max is very sweet, very loyal to me, he yells very loud and frequently but rarely ever bites, he is tentative with new people at first, he's playful when he wants to be, he needs his own space yet he can be seen giving the others (not smudge) baths, he's my favorite and he knows it.

ava pearl skymoon

born december of 1999

ava was orignally going to be ezmerelda, until my mom and i were talking about a dear family friend and what she named her new daughter - ava - while i was on my way home from greenhill humane society, here in eugene, with ava in tow. my new sweet cat looked more like an ava than an ezmerelda and thus she became ava. the pearl came from a cat my dad and his wife had and adopted out too friends of theirs.

ava p. is my cuddle cat. its her very favorite activity, curling up on my chest, or anyone's for that matter. she is the most talkative of the 4, she loves to talk to me when i'm cooking, while she's walking on the counter :P.. she loves playing by herself in the bathtub, and recently she has started coming out of her shell more and more, playing in the living room both by herself and stalking the other three. she doesn't have a favorite toy, she'll play with anything.

willamette smudging valley

born april of 2001

i found smudge outside my former work place. he mewed, i picked him up, flipped him over on his back, he didn't care, i didn't want a fourth cat, but how could i resist? i took him inside, showed off my new cat, everyone asked about a name.. i was thinking "fred," "harold," "oliver." our administrative secretary said "smudge," (because of his markings), i said "okay, because to smudge is a part of wiccan religious practice," and we've lived happily ever after.

smudge is a great cat. though he hates a dirty litter box. he's laid back, loving, playful. i didn't want a fourth cat, but for a cat i didn't want, i couldn't ask for a better one. everyone who meets him falls in love. his favorite toys involve pretty much anything, but if he has to choose it'd be the ones with a feather.. though he does have this flourescent orange mouse that he "adopted."
